Editor’s Review

Most HoloLens apps focus on holographic technology, but Holopop celebrates the amazing spatial sound capabilities of the HoloLens.  There are 7 sound sources in this app, allowing the user to drag each sound source to a different position in 3D space. The end result is a fun sound surrounding the user.

There is so much more that could be done with this app – play a custom playlist, select different sounds from each sources, etc.  Neat concept though.

Publisher’s Description
Holopop is an interactive spatial audio experience. Use the app to orchestrate your room the way you have never expected it to sound. Put holographic pops around you and play with them on the soundscape playground.

This beta version of the app was developed at the Microsoft Hololens Hackathon in Los Angeles. This app won in the ‘Spatial Sound’ category.

How to use beta version of Holopop:

– launch the app
– Say ‘edit mode’ and each of the 7 pops will become editable. Tap on the pop, move it around the room and tap back to fix it in place. Repeat with all 7 pops.
– After you’re done planting the pops, say ‘play mode’. The squares will disappear.
– Tap the pops on and off to discover what your room sounds like.
– Have fun!

*you can also say ‘stop all pops’ or ‘play all pops’. Come back for Holopop v.2.0 in the near future.
